Placement Team Lead
EUSA Academic Internship Experts is seeking to appoint a Placement Team Lead to our team based in London.
Overview
EUSA Academic Internship Experts works with universities, departments, and individual professors to create and deliver customized, academically-directed internship programmes in London, Dublin, Madrid, Paris, and Prague.
EUSA has successfully placed over 30,000 students in academically directed internships over the past 40 years.
EUSA place several hundred students per year in academic internships in a range of industries including marketing, media, business, finance, health & science, psychology and the arts (e.g. theatres, museums).
In addition to internship placement, EUSA's services include housing, academic program development, and program management (including pastoral care, social programmes and student wellbeing & safety).
Reporting Relationships
Placement Team Lead reports to the London Director
The Placement Team report to the Placement Team Lead
Responsibilities
50% Management of the placement team in planning, developing, and timely placement of students in high quality, academically appropriate internships
Manage the placement team by providing coaching and day-to-day supervision
Set placement team deadlines and deliverables
Lead outreach strategy
In direct support of UK Visa & Immigration (part of the Home Office) requirements, actively track students’ internship compliance including attendance and ensure all internship companies are properly vetted
Coordinate placement matching week and file divide
Schedule internship consultations, drop-ins, internship orientations and internship workshops
Create and deliver student presentations and workshops
Monitor and report on student internship attendance
Troubleshoot and communicate student issues as needed
Report on placement process (produce weekly trackers to be shared with management and partners, support Director with end of program reviews)
Weekly meeting with London Director
25% HR and people management of the Placement Team
Assist with the recruitment of Career Advisors, including candidate sourcing, screening, and interview coordination
Support onboarding and induction processes for new placement team members
Maintain and update employee records, ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures
Act as a point of contact for HR-related queries within the placement team
Contribute to performance tracking, goal setting, and reporting
20% Assist in managing relationships with London’s university partners
Regular meetings with key partners
Ensure all attendance and supervisor reporting is shared with relevant partners
5% Emergency response and student health and safety
Assist in student health and safety response
24-hour emergency care on-call duty shared with other London team members
Profile and Requirements
Permission to work in the United Kingdom
Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills
Strong problem solving and conflict management skills
Knowledge of UK business and industry trends
Excellent organization and time management skills
Works well under pressure
High level of professionalism and accuracy
Self-starter, ability to use initiative and take ownership of projects
Ability to work with people of all ages and levels (students, parents, supervisors, university officials, and colleagues)
Degree level education and professional experience in higher education, student services, recruitment, or relationship management
Ability to maintain a degree of flexibility with regards to the ever-changing nature of the role itself
Additional/Desired
Some familiarity with the US higher education system
Experience living in another culture
Experience managing a team and/or supervising professional staff
